Knowing The Signs of Plumbing Trouble

After my house started to smell bad, I assumed that the scent was wafting from my teenager's room. Unfortunately, a careful inspection of the problem didn't turn up any results, so I knew I had a real problem on my hands. I asked a friend to come over to help me to find the source of the smell, and they immediately mentioned the smell of sewer gas. I realized that I needed to work with a professional plumber to get things resolved. I called out an expert, and they talked with me about the common signs of plumbing problems. 3 Signs That Your Well Pump Needs To Be Serviced Or Replaced

Having a well can give you multiple advantages. For instance, you don't have to rely on city water to meet the water needs of your family. As a result, you don't have to pay exorbitant prices for your water, and you can use as much water as you desire. In addition, you don't have to worry about that your family is drinking or bathing in water that is laden with chemicals that you know nothing about. Still, you can only enjoy your well water if your well pump is functioning as it is designed to. Here are a few indications that your well pump is failing and needs to be serviced or replaced as soon as possible:

Poor Water Pressure

If you notice that the water pressure within your home has declined, a failing well pump could be at fault. If too little water is being pumped into your home for access through your pipes, the water pressure will be lower than it usually is. In addition, changes in water pressure could result in air being spit from the faucets sporadically instead of a smooth flow of water.

If there are changes in your water pressure, have your well pump assessed professionally to ensure that it is still in good working condition. It is also best to be aware that other well issues, such as problems with the pressure tank, can also affect water pressure from your faucets.

No Water Flow at All

Another indication that you are having a well pump problem is a complete lack of water flow from your faucets. If the pump is clogged, it may only need to be cleaned. However, if the pump has completely failed, a replacement may be necessary.

Like changes in water pressure, a complete lack of water flow can be associated with other plumbing component, such as a blocked pipe. Thus, it is always best to have the issue professionally diagnosed.

The Pump Cycles Repeatedly

If a pump cycles on and off unnecessarily, it may burn out quickly and need to be replaced. The incessant cycling could be caused by an issue with a sensor within the device.

If the pump cycles continually, you may notice an increase in your electric bill.

If you suspect a problem with your well pump, contact a well pump repair specialist in your area, like County Pump & Supply Co. He or she can assess your well system and identify the problem quickly.
